The 2026 Anesthesiology Giving Competition

The Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research’s fierce, fun, and friendly way to support the future of education and research in anesthesiology.

The Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research’s (FAER) annual Anesthesiology Giving Competition (AGC) is back for 2026.

Started in 2022, the AGC is a fun, friendly way for anesthesiology departments around the country to enjoy spirited competition, raise funds for FAER, and support the future of education and research in anesthesiology. All donations during the competition go toward FAER’s mission to develop the next generation of physician-investigators.

This year’s competition also features an exciting milestone, coinciding with FAER’s 40th anniversary on Oct. 21. Your donation during the AGC will help ensure FAER can continue offering the specialty’s up-and-coming scientists valuable grants and programs for another 40 years to come.

Donate today to secure the future of education and research in the specialty and help your current department, alma mater, or favorite of the 44 departments competing this year take one of four winning spots.

Competition dates

The 2026 AGC runs from 10 a.m. PT, Oct. 12, through 9:59 p.m. PT, Oct. 23.

Competition groupings

To level the playing field, competitors are broken up into two tiers within their grouping, determined by faculty count. The tiers are as follows:

  • Departments with 110 or more faculty members are considered Large Tier.
  • Departments with less than 110 faculty members are considered Small Tier.

How to win

The AGC is focused on individual giving to FAER, with participating departments encouraging their faculty, graduates, past residents, and supporters to donate on their behalf. Two winners per tier will be selected for the following categories:

  • Greatest amount donated ($): Total dollar amount donated on behalf of the department, including any matching funds donated by or for the department.
  • Greatest number of donors (#): Total number of donors who donated on behalf of the department. Each donor is counted only once per department.

Prizes for winning departments

Beyond the pride taken in supporting education and research in anesthesiology, each winning department will be awarded:

  • Expanded recognition: FAER loudly announces and celebrates the winning departments year-round across its social media channels, through e-blasts, on its website, and in its annual report.
  • Grand rounds: Winning departments select a FAER leader to present grand rounds for the department during the following year. FAER covers all travel-related expenses.
  • Trophies: A fun-yet-formal trophy is sent to help departments celebrate their triumph for years to come.
  • FAER-funded party: To help the winners bring together all the wonderful donors who made their victory possible, FAER sponsors a celebratory get-together of each champion’s choosing.
