It’s been almost two years since ASA members have been able to interact with their colleagues and industry in what is always the most exciting venue at any annual meeting – the dynamic, inspirational, and educational Exhibit Hall. The Exhibit Hall this year in San Diego is going to be well worth the wait.

Here’s what’s NEW in 2021 and some of what you’ll see when the Exhibit Hall opens tomorrow morning:

NEW! Center Stage
The name speaks for itself – Center Stage is where you’ll find the Exhibit Hall’s marquis sessions and activities, and it all begins tomorrow:

SATURDAY

Filtering Through the Details of HEPA vs. High Efficiency
11:35-11:45 a.m.
Meeting Sponsor Intersurgical will present HEPA vs. High Efficiency filtration, reviewing the importance of test particle size and filtration efficiency ratings.

A New Short-Acting Sedative for Procedures 30 Minutes or Less
Noon-1 p.m.
ASA Industry Supporter Acacia offers an educational program to discuss current and new treatment options in procedural sedation.

Swimming with Sharks
1:15-2:45 p.m.
Provided in cooperation with AngelMD, our Swimming with Sharks sessions give anesthesiology’s smartest innovators a chance to present their ideas to a panel of experts who’ve been involved in bringing such ideas to market. For attendees, it’s a great opportunity to follow the steps involved in this process and to develop resources for their own projects.

There will be two Swimming with Sharks sessions: one for very early-stage startups (back of the napkin ideas/conceptual/pre-seed stage) and one for startups that are seed stage and beyond (e.g., series A).

This session will repeat on Sunday, October 10, from 10-11:30 a.m.

Live ACCRAC Podcast Recording
3:15-4:45 p.m.
Here’s your chance to participate in a live-audience podcast with Jed Wolpaw, MD, of the popular ACCRAC podcast series. You’ll be able to interact with a panel of esteemed anesthesiologists who will share their expertise and experiences:

  • Douglas R. Bacon, MD, MPH, will reflect on his military experience, discuss the importance of advocacy and his work with the AMA, and share thoughts on transgender patient care.
  • Aditee P. Ambardekar, MD, will discuss her leadership journey, her role in the ACGME, and her clinical expertise in pediatric burn anesthesiA

POCUS Resident Workshop

This ASA session is designed to welcome trainees (only) to advanced regional anesthesia and point of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and will utilize hands-on ultrasonography with standardized patients. There are two tracks attendee will rotate through. The class will utilize a flipped class model, with each registrant being provided reading materials and videos on the topics two weeks prior to the session.
