What was your biggest takeaway/learning lesson from ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025?
As another very successful meeting winds down, the Annual Meeting Daily News staff reached out to a few attendees as they made their way between sessions. We asked them:
What was your biggest takeaway/learning lesson from ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025?
“I come every year, and there’s just a wealth of knowledge. Clinically, I like to bring home things I learn here back to my practice. I’m excited about VExUS — a new ultrasound technique I could use for transplants.” —Stephen Aniskevich III, MD, FASA, Mayo Clinic Department of Anesthesia, Jacksonville, Florida
As [an international physician], my biggest takeaway is that although we all work in different parts of the world, the general anesthetic thought process is similar. I’m discovering that we do a lot of stuff the same, but I’m also learning a lot from my colleagues here who have different experiences and different tips and tricks.” —Marianne Stave, MD, Oslo University Hospital, Norway
“My biggest takeaway is how important connections are. When I come to these meetings, I have the chance to meet people from all over the world, and everyone has something to share about their career that you can use to help your career. Connections are the most valuable thing to me from this meeting.” —Raquel Torres, MD, Los Angeles, California
“The way [ASA] started the meeting with Lucy Kalanithi’s keynote was really emotional but a great way to open the meeting. It made it feel like wellness was at the forefront, and it showed the humanity of what we do — how we impact medicine but also how medicine impacts us.” —Techecia Idowu, MD, MD Anderson, Houston, Texas
“It’s a great meeting, and it’s totally worth it to take the time off and learn, to get better in your specialty, and to meet with friends.” —Gloria Rodriguez Barinas, MD, UMMC, Jackson, Mississippi
“You can see and talk to other clinicians who are doing great things across the country or across the world, and you can learn about best practices. The sessions are amazing, and that’s part of it, but I think the interactions with your peers and networking are what I would say [is the biggest takeaway].” —David Winter, MSN, RN, Miami, Florida
