The wait is over! ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025 is here

This year's lineup includes featured lectures, the Exhibit Hall, the Anesthesiology Career Fair, and more.

D1 Intro Image

Attendees at ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025 will be part of a history-making ASA event — it’s the first time the society has held the annual meeting in San Antonio. Although that’s a fun bit of trivia, the real reason you’re here is the same as every year — ANESTHESIOLOGY is unmatched the world over for its educational and networking opportunities.

Convenience is key in 2025. San Antonio is considered one of the most walkable cities in the U.S., and most ASA hotels and special events are located close to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. No more waiting for a motorcoach, and no need for frequent rideshare trips.

Those attending virtually might miss out on San Antonio’s many charms, but you will still have access to select live programming and CME opportunities. These will be available for 12 months after the meeting.

Here are some highlights in store for ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025:

Alamo City: Founded in 1717, San Antonio is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the oldest cities in the United States. The iconic Alamo is world-renowned, but there’s a whole other world of things to do in Texas’ second largest city. San Antonio is increasingly making history as a culinary destination. It’s only the second city in the U.S. to receive the UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy designation.

Featured Lectures: There’s a stellar lineup planned for the meeting’s most storied lectures, including:

  • Lucy Kalanithi, MD, FACP, will kick off the meeting with her Keynote Address “When Breath Becomes Air: From Physician to Patient — The Intersection of Medicine, Mortality, and Humanity.” Dr. Kalanithi is a renowned patient advocate, award-winning podcaster, and master storyteller.
  • Sachin Kheterpal, MD, MBA, an authority on health IT and quality improvement, will deliver the Emery A. Rovenstine Memorial Lecture on “Anesthesiologists as Leaders in a Data-Driven World.”
  • Joyce Wahr, MD, a preeminent patient safety expert, will deliver this year’s John W. Severinghaus Lecture on Translational Science, titled “It's Not Your Fault! The Cognitive Basis of Error.”

A complete list of this year’s featured lectures can be found on the ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025 website.

Exhibit Hall: Each year, the ASA Exhibit Hall reminds us why so many members make the effort to attend in-person events. This year, more than 200 industry leaders are eager to share the latest innovations and information with you. Exhibit Hall hotspots include Center Stage, the ASA Resource Center, Live with TopMedTalk, and the Meet-Up Lounge, which is ground zero for casual networking with your peers. New this year — the Golf Zone, where you can tee off for fun and relaxation.Picture1

Subspecialty Resources: Experts from every subspecialty and every corner of the globe are coming together at ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025 to share knowledge in an environment they can find nowhere else. There is no better place to be for staying on top of the latest research and innovations, from cardiac to critical care. Be sure to add relevant subspecialty meetings and activities to your itinerary.

Anesthesiology Career Fair: Meet with hiring managers from nearly 50 of the top employers in the nation on Saturday, October 11, and Sunday, October 12. Don’t miss the nearby Headshot Studio, where you can walk away with a professional headshot or two.

This is, of course, just a small sample of the top-notch programming available at ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025. If you haven’t done so already, download the ASA My Meeting App — an essential tool to help you navigate all the outstanding sessions and events. And be sure to bookmark the ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025 website.

Welcome to San Antonio!
