Stay informed: Naloxone distribution and education on opioid overdose reversal
Initiative focuses on the life-saving importance of opioid overdose reversal techniques.

As part of our ongoing efforts to tackle the opioid crisis, ASA is proud to announce an educational initiative, sponsored by Hikma Pharmaceuticals, at ANESTHESIOLOGY 2024. This initiative focuses on the life-saving importance of opioid overdose reversal techniques, specifically using Kloxxado (naloxone), an intranasal spray designed to reverse opioid overdoses rapidly.
Empowering Healthcare Professionals with Tools and Information. To ensure health professionals are equipped to respond to opioid overdoses, we’ve partnered with Charcoal and Grey, a Pennsylvania Harm Reduction organization, that will distribute sample naloxone (free of charge and in limited capacity) to attendees on site. In addition to the distribution, we will provide valuable resources outlining how and where health care professionals can access naloxone in their home states. This initiative is designed to increase awareness of opioid overdose reversal and to ensure that health care providers have the knowledge and tools to act swiftly in emergency situations.
Why Naloxone Matters. With opioid overdose continuing to be a public health emergency, naloxone has become an essential tool for health care professionals. Kloxxado, a high-dose naloxone nasal spray, can be an important part of this conversation, offering an option that can be used to prevent fatal outcomes. Whether you are a physician, nurse, or other health care provider, knowing how to access and administer naloxone could save lives.
What You Can Expect at the Event
- Naloxone Distribution Booth: Visit the booth located immediately inside the main entrance to the Exhibit Hall (Hall E) Saturday and Sunday to receive naloxone and learn more about where to obtain it locally
- Educational Materials: Information will be provided on obtaining and safely administrating Kloxxado and other naloxone products
- Hands-on Naloxone Training: Training kits will be available to HCPs to sharpen skills with intranasal naloxone administration
Take Action. We encourage all attendees to take part in this opportunity. Whether you are involved in direct patient care or are an advocate for patient safety, this initiative will provide you with the necessary knowledge and tools to act quickly in life-threatening overdose situations.
