Help support FAER’s mission through the Academic Giving Competition

Compete for a great cause when you participate in FAER’s Academic Giving Competition.

Trimmed Agc Logo Version #2 1

The Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research’s (FAER) annual Academic Giving Competition (AGC) is back for 2025. The AGC was established in 2022 as a fun, friendly way for academic anesthesiology departments around the country to enjoy spirited competition and raise funds for FAER.

The AGC is a wonderful way to support the future of education and research in anesthesiology, with all proceeds from the competition going toward FAER’s mission to develop the next generation of physician-investigators.

Donate today to help your current department, alma mater, or your choice of 38 academic departments competing this year to take one of four winning spots.

The deadline to participate in the 2025 AGC is 11:59 p.m. CT, Tuesday, October 14.

Donate today!

Competition groupings

To maintain a level playing field, competitors are separated into tiers within their grouping, determined by faculty count:

  • Large Tier: Departments with 110 or more faculty members.
  • Small Tier: Departments with less than 110 faculty members.

How to win

The AGC is focused on individual giving to FAER, with participating departments encouraging their faculty, graduates, past residents, and supporters to donate on their behalf. Two winners will be selected per Tier (Large and Small) for the following categories:

  • Greatest amount donated ($): Total dollar amount donated on behalf of the department, including any matching funds donated by/for the department.
  • Greatest number of donors (#): Total number of donors who donated on behalf of the department. Each donor will be counted only once per department.

Prizes for winning departments

Beyond the pride taken in supporting education and research in anesthesiology, each winning department will be awarded:

  • Expanded recognition: FAER announces winning departments across its social media channels, through e-blasts, on the FAER website, and in its annual report.
  • Trophies: A fun yet formal trophy is issued to help you celebrate your triumph for years to come.
  • FAER-funded party: To help our winners bring together all their wonderful donors who made their victory possible, FAER sponsors a celebratory get-together of your choosing.
  • Grand rounds: Winning departments select a FAER leader to present grand rounds for the department during the following year. FAER covers all travel-related expenses.
